New Zealand a key part of CRV’s global business – Angus Haslett takes the reins
New Zealand will continue to play a key role in CRV’s global artificial breeding business, according to outgoing CRV Ambreed managing director Angus Haslett.

Haslett has this month officially taken over the reins as CEO of Dutch parent company CRV, but will continue to be based in New Zealand until a lift in COVID-19 travel restrictions allows him to relocate to Holland.
“New Zealand is a significant country when it comes to dairying and the use of genetics,” he says. “CRV Ambreed is fortunate to have a partner in CRV, which has allowed it to make investments in technology, like the new myHERD platform, and in genotyping which continues to increase the accuracy of our breeding value predictions.
“I’m proud to be leading our company into an era where we can continue to help New Zealand farmers maintain their position as world-leading sustainable, productive and profitable food producers.”
As CRV’s first ever international CEO, Haslett succeeds Roald van Noort, who successfully led the company for more than 12 years. He will head up a team of more than 2,000 staff worldwide.
Haslett joined CRV in 2009 as Managing Director of CRV’s Business Unit Oceania and most recently also managed the company’s USA operation.
He has enjoyed a career in agriculture for over 25 years, primarily in the dairy industry. During his time as CRV Ambreed managing director, he worked closely on developing Oceania’s strategy. His position also saw him lead several successful acquisitions that have led to CRV positioning itself at the forefront of innovation in herd improvement.
Mr Haslett believes now, more than ever, New Zealand is highly relevant on the international stage and has a crucial role to play in feeding the world.
“We use a farming system that comes with its own challenges around efficiency and sustainability, but importantly, one that has earnt us a global reputation for producing safe, high quality food,” he says.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has reinforced the importance of the role New Zealand plays when it comes to feeding the world, particularly with our dairy products. But we need to do so in a way that is sustainable. With genetics, we can help with both.
“Bringing together the collective strengths of CRV globally, there is an opportunity for us to leverage access to an extensive pool of knowledge and expertise and work together more to tackle industry challenges. I am looking forward to the opportunities my new role will present to make this happen.”
Roald van Noort will remain with CRV until September 1st 2020 in order to facilitate a smooth transition. Recruitment for Haslett’s successor at CRV Ambreed is underway.
